Meanwhile some items came back from the plater and the powder coater.

The thing that simply does not exist...

Genuine thick flange Cooper S block, EN40B crankshaft and proper S con rods. All std size!!! The crankshaft only needs a polish and can be kept std with new bearings. The block have been honed for race use, thus piston-bore clearance is too much for road use now. It needs to be rebored to 1st oversize. Also worth to menshion the metalastic crank damper - nice period addition.

Cross drilled by the factory...

The engine had very little use. It is nearly rust free inside.

Another neuragic point is the cone of the clutch - perfect in this occasion.

Panels arrived

Panel beating 2

The upper sill was generaly ok, soo we only replaced the rotten areas.

And fixed the holes.

The upper a post needed more work. We removed a bigger part of the metal to go for sure not leaving thin sections.

Same on the inside was done.

The right upper sill was also fixed.

On an old metal item rust can be everyhwere.

Later a much bigger section was removed including the suspension point.

Some velding was done on the spare wheel tray.

The roof gutters were removed to treat the rust underneath.

It is a question to keep them or to replace them.

The quaterlight edges were replaced on each sides.

Just as the shock absorber attachment points.

Sand blasting 2

Some problems on pictures...

Before blasting the body, we removed the rusted panels, and opened up all the closed sections in order to remove all the rust. The body was in good condition, although some areas were badly fixed.

The worst problem being at the rear compartment. At some point the rear valance panel was replaced, with some sections of the boot floor. Unfortunalty rust was left untreated under the strenghtening of the suspension pickup point. Now we have to replace the valance again  in order to make it good.

The battery box is also in poor condition, better to replace rather than to fix it.

The floors were also in bad condition. The inner sills were mended a couple of times.

Somebody replaced the left footwell. Again not very nicely.

Rust holes at the sill.

Rust holes at the mid of the A post.

And on the top also.

Holes on the upper sill.

Some in the rear wheel bay.

Rear suspension pickup poit rusted, mended, rusted again.

Front inner wing damaged.

Seat attachment point cracked.
